This listing is limited to television & web series with gay, LGBTQ+ & BL storyline as part of the main story. While traditionally BL series outside the Philippines were typically written by female authors for female audience, nowadays, there are a lot of male creators and male viewers - this is especially true for Pinoy BL series. The 'male' characters in BL series usually self-identify as men although some of them will self-identify as gay, bisexual, transgender or queer+, in the latter case, these BL series can also be considered as gay-themed and/or LGBTQ+-themed series. BL series depict homoerotic, romantic &/or sexual relationships between two 'male' characters, usually high school boys, university students or young professionals. At least one of the characters in LGBTQ+-themed series is a lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or queer+. LGBTQ+-themed series are broader since they are not limited to having a gay character. All gay-themed series are LGBTQ+-themed series.
Gay-themed series depict homoerotic, romantic &/or sexual relationships between two characters, at least one of whom is gay. Definitions of these three genres ovelap but just for the sake of differentiating them, I'll provide some simple definitions.
